After 39 pages,thought it would be good to have another Grease review thread

review 2 already, wonder how many we will get too by the time he finishes.

I am going on Friday with my French relatives I went with two weeks previously - they loved it so much they wanted to go again before they go home and chose to do that instead of seeing something else!!  I did a review last time, but if it won't bore anyone too much, I will do another!!  Hope Janey has a great time (Thursday?) and Rachelle on Saturday too.

Thank-you,I'll be going again before Ray's birthday,so not too long to wait,just can't go this week due to the strike,I keep hoping they'll call it off,but they never do

Wow another great show!!!  Ray was on top form again!!!!  Understudies on for Kenickie (Bennett Andrews again who I love in the role, he is really good now having done it for so long! and great with Ray they look like they get on so well)  So knock on effect of understudies for Sonny (James Marshall) and Doody also understudied by Jamie Tyler ( who I don't like so much as Doody although my favourie as Eugene!)  This meant that Eugene was understudied by Ryan Quish, who was much more into the role than the last time I saw him.

For the ladies, Frenchie was understudied by Alison Hefferon (not as good as Faye but quite good), and Jan was understudied rather unconvincingly I felt by Marie Daly (instead of her usual role of Miss Lynch) - didn't like her accent much but the usual Jan (Laura Wilson)is so good that it is difficut for anyone else I suppose, so Miss Lynch was played by Charlotte Bull.  I have to admire all the understudies though - it must get confusing at times to keep changing roles and still put on a great performance.  I am probably a bit critical because I have seen the show a few times!!!  Marie forgot her lines marginally in the girls sleep over scene, but Emma improvised a bit of dialogue so no-one would have noticed!!!

As long as Ray and Emma were there though we were all happy and the show was really great again.  Rays timing seems to get better and better and he responds to the audience so well, even if they are applauding someone else like Eugene - he sort of waits until there is a break before carrying on - great timing!  He really was on top form though, his singing was great, acting superb, but I have to admit it is his dancing that I find so very outstanding - he is by far the best dancer there, and partnered with Kristina as Chacha, the high school dance scene I could watch again and again (and probably will!)  All he lifts were 100% brilliant, unhesitating and strong and worked brilliantly, the one handed lift he held for ages to great applause!!!! He must be really strong to do that, and the two of them must be so in tune to time it so well as it must be quite a dangerous lift, so Kristina must really trust Ray not to drop her.,  I also like the way Jason (Vince Fontaine) congratulates Ray after the dance.  I know they are acting but I just get the feeling he admires Rays dancing!!!  He watches Ray all the time while he is dancing.  After the dance finished, the couple behind us said "I didn't realise how good he would be - he is so talented!"

We also had some Americans behind us that I got talking to, they couldn't believe how young Ray was, they were from Wisconsin and they asked if Ray was English!!!  They said all the accents were good though so well done to everyone in the cast!

The drive in movie scene was brilliant again, Ray seems to have a few more attempts to "grope"  Emma each time I see the show!  The audience loved it - great applause again!  Rays ring fell off the car when Emma put it down but someone came on and retrieved it when the lights went down!!!  If that is Rays own ring he usually wears I expect he would be quite upset if it were lost!!!   Ray also got massive applause as he left the stage in his shorts!! He really milked the crowd there too as he got quite a few wolf whilstles!!  The finale should have a mention too as it is really brilliant and they put so much effort into it.  I think Ray was working on the wet t-shirt look again as you could see he was so hot the top was getting wet!!!!!  Ray and Emma were superb together yet again and they really look like they are having such a great time, fantastic chemistry!!

Once again, it was a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable evening!!  The family loved it again I think it has been the highlight of their holiday!

Sorry to have gone on at length, I suppose I could just have reposted my last review!!!  But I really do think it gets better each time I see the show - I will have to go again to see the original Doody, Frenchie and Jan again (good excuse), but to be honest to see Ray perform so well makes the journey so worthwhile anyway.

If I think of anything else, will come back and report - looking forward to Rachelles review this weekend!  Sorry if I've bored you!!

fantastic review Alfie, shame there where quite a few standins , there was when i went, i couldn't catch on who was filling in for who as they said them that fast... going to have to go again to see Ray dance that hand jive with Kristina, the girl that i saw was good, but i've heard so much about the chemistry Ray & Kristina have doing that dance would be great to watch.

Did someone mention Ray & wet t-shirt. lol!!!!

I've been having a Ray day by watching the x-factor discs laura has done for me!!! still got another one to watch, i' haven't seen Ray with his mutlicoloured socks yet.

Thanks for the review Alfie,glad you had a great time again :).As much I thought Bennett was good and I did think Ray and Bennett worked very well together,as they are very good friends.I still can't wait to see Stuart back playing Kenickie :).I much prefer Jamie as Doody,but once again its personal choice,I do like Ryan Quish as Eugene too
