And anonther, though the Daily Post never go for all out praise for any show but not a bad review really even if it does contradict itself.  http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-life-features/liverpool-arts/2011/11/10/theatre-review-ray-quinn-and-rhydian-roberts-star-in-grease-at-the-liverpool-empire-92534-29751522/

Thanks for the links. Some lovely reviews. You always get one that disagrees but each to their own. We know how good he is. After reading the reviews and seeing the tweets from the last few days can't wait to see Ray as Danny and so looking forward to the jive routine.

Sorry for the delay in posting. Just a quick review of the opening night of the show in Liverpool. I did post some tweets for those on Twitter.

The show was a sellout and the atmosphere was electric. Suffice to say the show was fantastic and Rays perfomance was superb. His vocals, dance moves perfect and he was word perfect too. He interacted brilliantly with the rest of the cast and there was no indication he had just come back to the role. There were huge cheers when he first appeared and was cheered all the way through. He looked really at home in the role.

There were some alterations to the West End show, in that Miss Lynch does the intro before Sandy and Danny appear. and the Hand Jive contained different moves and lifts which worked really well. I think physically some of the high lifts he did with Kristina in the West End would not work so well with Sophie Zucchini but the new moves were great. The dancing and moves were precise and clean. The whole production and cast were highly professional.

Visually I think Ray worked better with this cast of T birds than with some of the west end cast, as they were more of a similar stature and height so gelled well as a group, although vocally I personally preferred some of the West End cast, and just a personal opinion but Rhydian was vocally excellent and the best I have heard in the role, but from a humour and acting point of view rather preferred Jason Capewell in the role (he is still playing Vince Fontaine) but Rhydian was very well received and seemed to be loving the role. The finale was also adapted to include him naturally.

It was a superb opening night and Ray seemed totally at home and loving every minute of it. The whole audience were on their feet during the finale and it was lovely to see the spontaneous standing ovation, It was also lovely to see Rays mother and Emma there to support him, and they were on their feet too. Anyone going is sure to have a fantastic time and if anyone hasn't booked yet or is thinking about it, do try and see this production. I think Ray is actually better this time around, as two years on his overall performance vocals and comedy somehow seem more mature than in the West End.

Finally it was nice to see that finally Ray has an updated CV (including Little Crackers and Nightvision) and updated photo in a programme.

Again apologies for the delay in posting.

Thanks for the lovely review Dancingles. Nice to hear that Ray has gelled so quickly into the role and with this cast. Can't wait to see the new show and especially the new jive routine. Heard on twitter that Ray is looking all buffed up. What a treet we have to come.

Thanks for your review Dancingles, your reviews are always a treat to read as they are so detailed and honest.  I personally don't give a stuff about the press reviews as they never seem honest and sincere.  It's easy to forget that it was two years ago that he played Danny in the West End and he is bound to have matured in every way since then. :)
