RAY PERFORMING AT THE CAVERN CLUB,AND GETTING A BRICK IN THE LIVERPOOL WALL OF FAME

Also to correspond with the launch date of Ray's album on Mother's day 2007 Ray was invited to perform at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool!!Whilst there Ray recieved the ultimate honour and was given a brick on the Liverpool Wall of fame.

Article from the Liverpool Echo :-

Ray becomes another brick in wall of fame

HE IS Liverpool’s newest rising star, and now Ray Quinn’s name will be placed alongside those of The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Less than a year after finishing runner-up on the X-Factor, the 18-year-old’s name will be etched in the bricks at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club.

It is an accolade that has been bestowed on renowned artists such as Eric Clapton, John Lee Hooker and more recently, the Arctic Monkeys.

But the young crooner will receive the honour at the start of his career, at a special event to mark the launch of his self-titled debut album.

The Cavern last night confirmed the special Mother’s Day ceremony – to be attended by sharp tongued X-Factor judge Simon Cowell – will take place a week on Sunday.

News of Ray’s recognition came as an event at St George’s Hall, which helped him find fame, was launched.

The Liverpool Performing Arts Festival will see thousands of performers from across the North West descend on the city over the next month to showcase their talents in music, speech, drama and dance.

Ray sent his best wishes with some advice for the next generation of wannabe stars, with the message: “Work hard, enjoy performing and you will make it.”

He added: “This festival is great, it encourages and rewards people with talent. When I took part, it helped feed my drive and ambition to perform and become a successful performing artist.

“It is a fun festival to take part in, you meet so many people. I wish the best of luck to all those taking part, and I hope they make sure they do it their way.

“Right now I am just living my dream and loving every minute. I will never forget my roots and I hope to one day visit the festival again and help give advice to all those taking part.”

Recent winners also include Mark Simpson, the 2006 BBC Young Musician of the Year.

Anthony Hannah, from X-Factor band Eton Road, won a gold medal at the festival in 2004.

And Portia Graham-Jones, who also performed in last year’s X-Factor, will be performing in the girl’s solo vocal category.

The music element of the festival began last night and runs until Thursday. The music final will begin at 6pm on Thursday, with the titles of Voice of The Year, Piano Student of The Year and instrumental Student of the Year up for grabs.

The speech and drama events take place from March 19–22 and the dance section of the festival takes place on Thursday, March 22, all from 9.30am – 9.00pm daily.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the performances. A daily ticket costs £2.20 and a weekly ticket costs £6.00.
