Ray Backs The Get On Campaign

GREASE STAR RAY QUINN TAKES TO LIFE ON TWO WHEELS AND GIVES BACKING TO GET ON CAMPAIGN

X Factor runner-up and Dancing on Ice Champion, Ray Quinn, is the latest celebrity to reap the benefits of life on two wheels and give his backing to Get On (http://www.geton.co.uk/), a national campaign which aims to encourage more people to get into motorcycling and scootering.

Having been struck by the thrill of biking, Quinn, who currently stars as Danny Zuko in the hit West End musical Grease, recently passed his CBT (the test which allows people to ride a geared motorcycle with an engine size up to 125cc with L-plates) and splashed out on his first set of wheels, a Yamaha WR125 X, which he bought from local Yamaha dealership, Motorcycles and Moore in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. 

The 21 year-old lost out on the X Factor top spot to singing sensation Leona Lewis, however following his success earlier this year on hit TV show Dancing on Ice, he was rewarded with his dream role of playing the heart-throb leader of the T-Birds in Grease, in which he wears their signature biker-style leather jacket.

Get On is a nationwide campaign aimed at getting new riders onto two wheels and to reintroduce lapsed riders back into motorcycling. Get On offers any member of the public over the age of 16 a free one hour taster session on a 125cc motorcycle or scooter simply by visiting http://www.geton.co.uk/ and registering for the experience.

Quinn commented, “I love motorcycling, it’s so convenient. If I were going to work by car it would take an hour, however using my bike allows me to zip through traffic, reducing my journey by half an hour. I’m still a learner and though I’m on L-plates I love my new WR125 X Yamaha. Since I’ve had it I’ve practically never been off it and once I pass my full test next year, and I’d love a Yamaha XJ6 or an MT.”

“When I’m not riding to work I use my bike to go into town to the shops, it is so much easier to go by bike as you don’t have to spend ages looking for a space as you would with a car, you can practically park anywhere. I’d definitely encourage others to try biking who have never tried it before – they don’t know what they are missing!”

The Get On campaign is a great initiative which promotes all the benefits of biking to the public. Ray’s clearly already enjoying beating the traffic on his bike, however riding also offers fun, freedom and flexibility, as well as environmental and cost saving advantages.”
